The story of how it all began
Our Network
As I mentioned on the home page, we're a network of friends and family who've all become hooked on Rat Terriers.

The Beginning
Nicole and Dave started this whole craze when they traveled to Wisconsin with Nicole's two rat terriers, Maggie and Max. Gina and Frank were charmed by these little imps. With an interest in finding a little dog already forming, meeting Maggie and Max turned their eye towards the Rat Terrier breed. After doing some research and talking with Nicole, they decided that the Rat Terrier would be a great little dog to have on a farm.

Traits
Traits that sold them on the breed included the Rat Terrier's:
  • energetic,
  • intelligent,
  • easily trainable,
  • rodent killing nature,
  • their love for companionship,
  • and that they get along well with children, other dogs, and even cats,
  • plus they will joyfully share any activity with their owners, from cuddling on the couch to time out in the barn,
  • and as Gina has pointed out - they're 'Wash and Go'. The combination of a tiny dog and a very short smooth coat means these little fellas can be put in the sink, washed, and out the door in a matter of minutes. A very important feature in a busy life.
Hey, they're small!
With a horseback riding trip planned to Kentucky, they asked Nicole to be on the lookout for a Rat Terrier breeder. After arriving in Kentucky and a short drive over the state line to Tennessee they picked out their puppy. But hey, they're small! So they both got one! Oh, and Gina's sister, Tonya, was along and although she insisted the whole way to the breeder's that she wouldn't be bringing a pup home, it didn't quite turn out that way. And that's how Jamie, Sydney, and Journey all came to Wisconsin.

Snowball Effect
From there it kind of snowballed and rather like the story, "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie", a whole sequence of events was kicked off.

As the Rat Craze took us all by storm, Nicole searched to find more Toy and Miniature Rat Terriers for each of us. In September Dave and Nicole returned to Wisconsin with Sig, Hazel, Libby and Madison.

After settling in with Madison, I decided I wanted another female, so once again we enlisted Nicole's help. She contacted the same breeder where Jamie, Sydney, and Journey came from, and he assured her that he had just the pup we wanted. So, when a group of us went on a horseback riding vacation (honeymoon for Gina & Frank), we made sure to head to Tennessee to get our little Dixie.

And that's when Robin was drawn in. She was just along for the ride when Taco stole her heart. Gottcha!

Gone to the Dogs!
So, now there are quite a few Rat Terriers in our lives. Who knows what the final count will be? But hey, they're small. Right, Frank?

Although we are fairly spread out geographically, we all share the same love and interest in the Rat Terrier. We take great care in raising our puppies and feel they will make excellent pets for you. We invite you to bring a Rat Terrier into your life. We're sure you'll enjoy these wonderful little dogs as much as we do.
